Strategy
We helped Koffka Phakos understand a new demographic they were chasing after, the world of institutional organizations. Their ideal client was busy creating change in the world, driving innovation through research and execution. We sought to identify CEO’s and principals of large non-profits, museums, schools, tech, and housing companies. To gain clientele and produce more work that aligned with Koffka Phakos’ values.
Identity
Koffka Phakos’ new studio location in West Hollywood, was designed by Rudolph Schindler around 1937. The building’s Art Deco signage would go on to influence a large part of our identity system.
Our primary typeface is Bely Display, a serif font built upon classical proportions that results in adventurous forms. Its geometric shapes and dynamic letters are ideal for a modern throwback vibe, reflective of Koffka Phakos’ creative expertise.
The notable art deco attributes of the building's signage served as a reference for our secondary typeface, Globe Gothic. Without dismissing the building's powerful heritage, we pay homage to it with a font that adapts throughout the identity system.
